Important Announcement for UT99 ..." OldUnreal takes over maintenance of the Unreal Tournament code base!" That said, they have been working on a New Patch for UT99 or Unreal Tournament 1999. A new patch that will update ut99 to work better and more bug free in our newer computers of today. The new patch for UT99 will be called " UT v469a" or the v469a patch for UT99. Excerpt from OldUnreal ..." The OldUnreal team has reached an agreement with Epic games to take over maintenance of the Unreal Tournament code base. I (anth) will be joining this effort along with a few other members of the OldUnreal developer team.
The goal of our maintenance project is to fix bugs, address performance problems, and to ensure that UT keeps running smoothly on modern platforms. We will not, however, change the way the game looks or feels. We will also ensure that new releases of UT remain network-compatible with older releases.
We have been working on a new UT patch for a while now and we have made quite some progress. We initially based our patch on UTPG's unreleased MD5 patch, but have addressed a lot of security and stability issues and have made a lot of overall improvements to the game. We do not have an ETA for the initial release yet, but we feel we are getting close." Officially: UT99 v469a PatchHere is the Link ... UT99 v469a Patch (Read the ReadMe file) NOTE: I personally am waiting a while on applying this new patch. - Hook

Will have to try it and see what blows up, lol From what I have read, they are carefully trying to make sure it is backwards compatible. Anth keeps saying all should work with this new UT99 Patch 469 that is coming.

This makes me very nervous. Thank God you folks can update first and tell me if it really is an improvement. Has Kelly chimed in on this anywhere? I want to hear what he says about it. If he has, please provide a link.
Hello all by the way. Sorry I'm never around. Life is busy. Too busy for me to maintain focus on UT. Patches are important though.I need to know about this one. take care all!

I know anth (who is making ACE) and Higor (who is also working on XC_Engine and a Siege mod I believe), so we should be in good hands. Yep, we all know Anth and Higor and yep we can certainly trust them. What "Kelly" (aka Jackgriffin, gopostal, etc etc) responded with is a common sense response that I am sure 97% of us already know also, but a few need reminding of. LOL If the ut99 patch version 469 goes as it should, it should be so much simpler to get new people started into playing ut99. Should be a lot less crap to do to get the game set up for modern computers I would say, and it would need few, IF Any tweaks! A new player installing ut99 would merely have to add the 469 patch, and virtually nothing else would be needed. So much simpler and easier to tell a newcomer to ut99 how to install ut99!!! One thing that I found out recently, that in my opinion is a real winner, is that the ut99 patch version 469, will eliminate version mismatches! Yes! Ah, very Good indeed, but how does 469 deal with version mismatches, or decide which to use? (in a nutshell) Answer (per Feralidragon)... "it's very simple: if the package in the server is not the same you have locally, the client will just download the one from the server and cache it on the side to be used so when you play offline, your own installed files are used, but if you play online, the cached server files may be used instead if they differ from the ones you have"

Well poo. The patch broke my game. I get sound and the very top header but the rest of the page is black Of course you made a backup of your ut99 folder, as they suggest in the ReadMe file, correct? I did mention this problem of yours to the coders and others. (on discord) So far, one reply from a random member was "Click on your ESC key to play" I personally am waiting a while on applying this new patch. Stay tuned ...

Is this a server side patch also??? Yes - as far as I know. Haven't heard anything different, or anything saying player OR server only. Unfortunately, many of our UT99 "gurus" that used to frequent the forums rarely do anymore. I am wondering if they are afraid of something??? They seem to have narrowed their presence down to a channel or 2 on discord. What is the ut99 community coming to???

This is the first public test release and should NOT be used in your regular setup. There is still plenty of things to fix and new bugs will be appearing. I haven't had it running yet, but encountered issues with the defaults not being updated in my configs, plus today I noticed the port for 333networks downlinks is wrong. The issue tracker is getting messy at the moment as some related issues are reported but not yet merged into single threads. github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTournamentPatches/issues/If you want to revert to 436, just use the old NODELTA patch to put the old files back. Any extra files from the patch will just be ignored so should not cause conflict. When reporting bugs please state what OS you use, renderers you have selected and if the UT and default ini files were successfully updated. Also it is useful to know if you installed the patch to a fresh install and if it is a CD, Steam or GoG version.

Any and all bugs you stumble on report here: github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTournamentPatches/issuesBest to let them know in 1 place Anyways, yea I had to redowmload my UT install as well, though the install I patched was a faulty one anyways lol. Just need to re-set my renderer settings and I should be good.

I guess I am just going to wait until the new v469 ut99 patch is easy to install without having to do a bunch of tweaking and fumbling with it to run good. Also, it should be foolproof and stable!

That is a good question. The fixes and changes are in the release notes github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTournamentPatches/blob/master/ReleaseNotes.mdIt picks up from where the 451b left off, which is buggy for clients. Some of it is for better compatibility with current hardware, some to integrate certain features the U227 patch has, and others for new protocol support. Unicode and HTTPS is something that has been needed for a long time, and IPv6 is also needed in this era moving forward.
