For over a month now I can't run any video games in fullscreen and when I do it almost immediately kicks me back to the desktop and the game is minimized and I can't bring the game up again as it'll keep doing it over and over and over. Using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit if it helps. I want to play UT and other games, computer! Is it so much to ask? D: I've never had this problem before...
Thanks in advance.

I have only had that sort of thing happen on rare occasion, and usually a game restart did the trick. In very rare occasion I had to restart the whole computer. Do you recall anything that may have happened with or to your computer around the time this started? We need some of our * HUTP UT Resource Guru* STAFF members to give Jigoku's computer problem a go! Back in the day when I Used windows 7 Ultimate, and I had a game give me fits this is what I would try first. 1. Go and download a fresh copy of DIrectx and reinstall it. This can repair any issues regarding Directx support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/179113/how-to-install-the-latest-version-of-directx2. Make sure to stay up on the latest Video Drivers...If your game starts acting up after a video driver update, you might want to move back to the previous driver version. Report Any error messages that pop up when the game crashes or gets kicked out of full screen, this can help troubleshoot.

Evil Darkwatch Games aoutomatically go fullscreen when I play them (some I have windowed for reasons.) Hook This started at the begining of August when I started using AnyDesk. A switch from TeamViewer. Sir Mandrake I'm always afraid to install Windows updates cuz they have a bad habit of messing up computers badly as Microsoft prolly has monkeys coding the updates. -_- But I'll give it a try after creating a bunch of system restore points... Though I did try to update my display driver and that didn't help. I have a feeling it's my video card taking a crap again (I have a GTX 970). Though apparently I can make games stay on by clicking on the taskbar icon A LOT but that gets tiresome and annoying.

This sounds like there may not be anything wrong with your video hardware, or drivers.... it may be something running in windows thats minimizing your game. If you say it started after using Anydesk, try removing it. How many tasks are actively running down in the task bar as you play your games? Some things to try.... Look over all of your installed apps. Remove any that you dont use any more. Look for any installed apps that you dont recognize and remove. Scan for malware....Use Malwarebytes Do a clean install of the latest video Driver for your GTX 970.... Here is how: Download the latest Video Driver GTX 970 and save it, dont run it yet. Follow this link, read about DDU and download it. DDU Forum
Its important to NOT let windows update install drivers for you which is why DDU says to disconnect your PC from the internet. Run DDU in safe mode so it can thoroughly clean the old drivers out. After running DDU, install your Newly downloaded drivers from Nvidia.... and lastly...Read this post from the Microsoft forum, it might help clue you in on what might be the problem. Lets see how this works for you.

The DirectX 9 installer is hardly an update you need to worry about. It is a minimum requirement for playing older games. It is older than Windows 7 (which comes with DX10) and will only install the missing/corrupt older files.
Check the fullscreen resolution and refresh rate in your ini file renderer settings Try disabling Windows Desktop Composition
What renderer are you using ? Have you swapped renderers ?

Im getting the impression that any game she plays is doing this, not just UT. Which is why my suggestions focus on system wide drivers and windows itself.

Yeah, ANY game I play fullscreen does this. But I'm still afraid to install drivers other than my display driver. Things can get screwy when installing updates from Microderp.

Yeah you want display drivers from nvidia, not Microsoft. But it’s always a good idea to keep up on the security updates and patches for windows. Always Differ the driver updates if it finds any. It still can’t hurt to use DDU to clean up your drivers and then reinstall fresh. It can solve many problems.

I know what drivers I need for my video card. I just don't trust updates from Microsoft because they can make a computer unuseable.

I understand your fear of updates, things can go wonky. However, to resolve your issues you'll need to reinstall the drivers at some point. Many times I have fixed hardware or windows problems by simply updating or reinstalling drivers, even if you are reinstalling the same version, a reinstall can fix things. Dont be afraid, you've got all of us here to help you if something goes wrong.

Well ok, my problem has been fixed somehow... I didn't do the thing Sir Mandrake had suggested but will keep that for future reference just in case. I think a virus scan helped fix my problem. It's so weird. Thanks for trying to help tho.
