Gather round children, it's storytime!
BTW, My apologies for any typo and grammar mistakes, I have Dyslexia and a speech impediment that carries over into "Textland" here online...but I'll try my best!
Also, I do not have Childhood amnesia, so I remember lots of stuff from when I was a young lad..I also have Hyperthymesia, like John Romero! (meaning almost perfect autobiographical memory), but unlike Romero my memory is rather selective, but if I truly want to remember it, I never forget it, ever (period), LOL!
So to get things straight, let me say this first before I state the storyline, so you know my age in this chronology of events: I was born the day the Romanian Revolution started to oust Nicolae Ceausescu (and his wife Elena), which was Saturday, December 16, 1989. I'm also 24 hours older than The Simpsons 1989 Christmas episode (but sadly not older than The Simpsons itself, since their original appearance was on The Tracey Ullman Show in, iirc, 1987 (correct me here if I'm wrong ^^ )).
So, with that said, we will now go along with the story chronology.
April, 1991: My first foray into the BBS world with a 9600 Kb/s at my Uncle's place (who is my Godfather, also has Paranoid Schizophrenia, but I love the man to pieces as if he was my adopted father who took me into his bosom, a wonderful kind gentle soul! This man taught me and my dad computers, and my Uncle has been using computers since 1984! He was an Architect and used them to aid for drawing blueprints for buildings and such). At this point, 14.4K modems were rare and 28.8K was only in very select commercial establishments! I was only 1⅓ years old at this point.
September *OR* October, 1991: My dad upgrades to a 14.4K Modem line, replacing all the phone lines in the house with a spec that can guarantee up to 48K (for future-proofing) and was thinking of getting two lines for the practice of "shotgunning" to create a 28.8K line, he ends up putting in 4 telephone lines in the house! Work phone, House phone, a fax line and a Modem line! The Modem line was in reserve since he (my dad) used the fax line also for his computer's modem. BTW, the house was built in 1987, using a cookie cutter lot (small lot and a very small backyard...who designed these things, and why...? (Answer: to cut costs, also greed Sometimes humanity disgusts me and is insane, and this was back in the mid 80's! Go figure, eh?) He hooks up the old Compaq (PC) to that Hybrid Fax/Modem line for his work business (he was a DJ from 1989-1999, 10 years!)
November 1991: I get promised to get my own PC for my second birthday -- and what a huge monster it was (in a good way)!
December 12, 1991: I rediscover the BBS world again, and I start using my dad's PC to connect to BBS's, needless to say he was NOT impressed.
December 16, 1991: I get my very first personal PC! \o/ Also my second birthday ^^
December 18, 1991: I go near daily on the BBS world, thus beginning me getting hooked onto PC's...and this was December 1991 and I was only 2 years old at this point!
December 21, 1991: I noticed a folder "WINDOWS" was installed but was unsure what it was, I figured and thought (in my 2 year old mind) that I downloaded a virus or something...yes, I first thought "WINDOWS" was a virus...something to do this day I am extremely proud about, and I'm not proud on very many things any longer Hey, I could go on about Windows 10 but I'm not gonna... No drama here at HUTP!
December 25, 1991: I get GAEMZ for Christmas! However, some said "Microsoft Windows Compatible", others said "Designed for Microsoft Windows", I ask my dad if "Windows" is installed on my PC, he said "Not yet" (it was a lie, it was but he wanted to surprise me for New Years 1992 as a New years present and teach me it one-on-one with him...I have more on that later ) BTW, I thought the "WINDOWS" folder was a virus I downloaded, and I didn't tell him (nor did I want to), but it was actually Windows 3.0 with Multimedia Extensions (I found this out later on rather eventfully, and rather dramatically also!)
December 27 & 28, 1991: My dad installs the games onto my PC while I'm asleep both those nights...first the DOS games on the 27th and then the Windows games on the 28th. I play the DOS games (I noticed he installed the Windows games also, but figured he installed them in DOS mode to prep for the Windows 3.0 installer, and that it would 'magically' detect their presence...yupp, 2 year old logic!
December 29, 1991: I find out today that "WINDOWS" is *NOT* a virus AFTER ALL! My dad explained it to me early, and I kept apologizing to him and saying "I'm sorry daddy for downloading the WINDOWS virus! ", with my dad explaining HE installed it and that it was an OS to go alongside DOS...I fall in love with Microsoft Windows and loved it from this day until September, 2012, when I gave up and lost hope entirely and completely with Microsoft & Windows itself!
December 30, 1991: I crawl out of bed very slowly around 12:30 A.M., and super quietly go downstairs and go on my computer, play on my WINDOWS games and play around with Microsoft Windows ITSELF (while I'm supposed to be asleep), checked out a few files I had downloaded before, one was a visual story explaining about Japanese history and Samurai's...take note of that because a Ronin is a Samurai with no leader I did not know then, but ever since then I wanted to be a "Samurai Master" and wield a sword (that dream never died btw, and is still alive, albeit heavily different now LOL!) I also imagined "Samurai Master FX" with the SuperFX chip on the SNES when I first played Star Fox in 1994...so the name goes back years even...coincidence much? I don't think so (personally). Destiny perhaps? Yes, I believe so. ^^ Anyhow, I decided I wanted to connect to the BBS at 2:30 in the morning...scared my family would wake up upon hearing them modem doing its business, but with balls of steel I did it anyhow...And yeap, sure enough they woke up, LOL! And they were pissed But I managed to download a beta or RC copy of the Line Mode browser that was JUST (20-40 minutes prior) uploaded to the BBS I usually went to (I only went to the first one on the list, didn't have much time as I was in deep shit and hot water ), and I downloaded it, and then no sooner than 3-4 seconds after it finished downloading my dad caught me and well, shit happened, but I got the file for when I could use the computer next. Surprisingly I was only grounded for 1 day, but my ass was smacked let me tell ya LOL!
December 31, 1991: My grounding sentence is finished (LOL!), and I connect to the World Wide Web using Line Mode Browser... So yes, I first went on "The Information Superhighway" on December 31, 1991! Also proud of this achievement, very much so!
//======================================================================
December, 2001: I decided my nickname needs changin'! I used "1337ster" from 1995-2000, and from 2000-2001 I used varying names online.
December 2002: After playing Battle Realms & Sid Meier's SimGolf, "Computar Mastar" and "Samurai" reminded me of the "Samurai Master FX" name I came up with in 1994, but I decided to "coolify" it, and due to my Dyslexia, I misread "Computar Mastar" as "Computa Masta", one of the profiles of the Golfer for his job in Sid Meier's SimGolf, So I decided on the name "Samurai Master FX", but that name sounded stupid (at the time to me, anyhow, IMHO), so I dropped FX and tried "Samurai Master", decided "No no, that won't do", so I decided "SamuraiMastaMX"...I almost laughed my ass off to oblivion, and "SamuraiMastaFX" sounded even more corny(ish) IMHO , and so, I ultimately decided "SamuraiMasta" would work (and be it), and so I adopted it...for about 8 months or so, LOL!
August 2003: I took notice (again) about the "Ronin" faction and class in Battle Realms, and so I decided to do research on the net regarding the difference between Ronin and Samurai...needless to say I was shocked to the very foundation of my soul!! In short (tl;dr), Samurai had a boss, a Ronin did not...(and) I was so gutted! I never (i.e. didn't) even like the Ronin, and I wanted to be known as SamuraiMasta, but Samurai's are someone's bitch, I was no man's and no woman's bitch, period! So, grudgingly, I adopted the nickname "RoninMasta", and the name stuck and it grew to me which I now love greatly -- I IDENTIFY with it! Someone can call me "Ronin", "RoninMasta" or "RoninMastaFX" IRL, you'll have my full attention and I'll actually say "Yeah? What's up?", LOL!
October 22, 2007: I officially add "FX" into my username at the very end, courtesy of the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 GPU & the Super FX Chip "RoninMastaFX" it is, ever since this date!
2010-2011: I (jokingly & unofficially) adopt the "Full" username, evolved over time as "RoninMastaFX von LeNoir".
2012: Windows Live Messenger removing the custom Name support and having my real name shown, I was mortified and disgusted with Microsoft pulling a "Facebook", which further deepened my disgust for social media as a whole! I officially adopt "RoninMastaFX von LeNoir" as my full *ONLINE* name when I can't (or shouldn't) use my real name on the net but they require a first and last name, I use "RoninMastaFX LeNoir" or "RoninMastaFX von LeNoir", usually the latter, but sometimes the former must and has to be used by site limitations (the software used on the site).
So there you go, an inside look into my username, plus with some early life tidbits also (that tie into the story!)
BTW, this is the first "publicly written" place involving the full story of my username (outside of my inner circle of friends)!
